RENDEZVOUS ON THE SQUARE "Honoring DeFord Bailey"
The 4th Annual "Rendezvous on the Square Honoring DeFord Bailey" will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007. Sponsored by Cumberland Bank. The event is held at the historical and beautiful Courthouse on Main Street in Carthage. The day will feature health screenings and information, arts and crafts booths, entertainment, special music by DeFord Bailey Jr.and Carlos Bailey and friends, a children's area, food, fresh produce, a farmer's market, "Country Fair", art show, door prizes and much more. The event will be kicked off with a pre-event 5K run/walk and a Bike Ride to benefit Habitat for Humanity. The Smith County Heritage Museum will be open with a special exhibit on World War II. The Rendezvous will begin at 10:00 a.m. Entertainment will be through out the day. A special DeFord Bailey MusiFest will also be held at the new Smith County Agricultural Center that same evening following the Rendezvous. Originally, George McCorkle (founding member of the Marshall Tucker Band) was scheduled to appear.  Regretfully, our dear friend  lost his battle with Cancer on June 29th.  Rest in Peace Brother.

A special tribute to George will be performed by George's son Justin, the Southern Boys Band, Bruce Wall, and friends.
